Delight

On the beach this morning a Father and his little boy went for a walk. The boy was probably four or five years old. I was observing them atop my new Lands' End beach chair. Giving into absolute delight of the water, the boy kept saying over and over, "look at the bubbles Daddy, look at the bubbles." This little boy was the picture of delight. Jumping up and down giggling, he tried to extinguish all the foam as it cascaded from the ocean on to the hard flat suface, where ocean meets sand. It reminded me of wanting, desiring, and abandoning myself to delight in my Heavenly Father, the creator of this vast ocean. This tiny little tot jumping and giggling in all that he knows of the ocean. What will he do when he learns so much more about the sea?

We are to delight in what we know about God as well. In comparison what we know and experience is like this tiny little boy jumping up and down on a miniscule scale, but delight he must, and delight we must! Just the small amount that we know of Christ should have us jumping, splashing, and giggling to our hearts abandon. This morning meditate on just small aspects of what you know of your God. Then abandon yourself to delighting, giggling and jumping into Him. You could lose yourself into joy unspeakable, I did.
