Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.
This gives me some food for thought. It brings to mind the difference between life under grace and law - of course the liberty that comes from grace is found only in Christ. Perhaps that's why democracies, historically speaking have been few, far between, and short-lived.
